Preparation work

Care Point: Disconnect 12V battery during Remove/Install seat procedure.

Care Point: When removing the facia, also remove the right hand display control unit bracket.

Care Point: Remove both sides.

Care Point: Disconnect body controller only.

Care Point: Vehicles fitted with 12 speakers (High line) Audio system only.

Remove cross car beam
1.   
Remove bolts (1).(M5x12) 6 Nm
 
   
2.   
Remove screws (2).
 
3.   
Remove screws (3). (M6x18) 10 Nm
 
4.   
Detach clips and feed facia harness from driver display and speakers (where fitted) through to the rear of the facia assembly.
 
 
Care Point:
Safely turn the facia assembly upside down on a bench.

Remove the following components:

Detach harness (4) from body controller carrier (5).
 
7.   
Remove screws (6) and remove body controller carrier (5). (M6x18) 10 Nm
 

 
Care Point:
On both sides of the facia assembly.

Care Point:
Required fixing and torque differs between vehicle markets.

Remove screws (7).
Federal markets (Vehicle with Kneebags):(M6x18) 4 Nm
Rest of world (Vehicles without Kneebags):(4.2x16) 1.5 Nm
 
9.   
Remove screw (8) and detach harness ground.(M6x18) 10 Nm
 

10.  
Remove screws (9).(4.2x16) 2 Nm
 

 
Care Point:
On both sides of facia assembly.

 
11.  
Remove duct fixing (10).(4.2 x16/M4) 2 Nm
 
12.  
Remove screws (11). (M5x16) 6 Nm
 
 
Care Point:
Federal vehicle only.

 
13.  
Disconnect kneebag electrical connectors.
 

14.  
Remove screws (12).(M5x12) 5 Nm
 
15.  
Remove OBD2 bracket (13).
 

 
Care Point:
With the aid of another technician supporting the facia from this point.

 
16.  
Remove bolt (14).(M5x20) 4 Nm
 
17.  
Remove screws (15).(4.2x16) 2 Nm
 
18.  
Partially remove cross car beam from facia assembly.
 

19.  
Disconnect passenger airbag electrical connectors (16).
 
20.  
Detach facia harness and disconnect connectors where required.
Leave facia switch pack harness attached to switches and disconnect from main facia harness
 
21.  
Disconnect electrical connector from ambient temperature sensor located in steering column aperture
 


Install cross car beam
 
Care Point:
When installing, re-connect harness connectors to switches/displays first before clips.

Care Point:
All bolts being fitted into the cross car beam must be started by hand only.

Care Point:
The bolts going into the cross car beam can only be used a maximum of 5 times. If beam has 4 black dots on the beam adjacent to the component being replaced, bolts must be renewed and black dots removed.

Care Point:
Please make sure that all bolts fitted are not cross threaded tightening. Any damage caused to the threads will require the cross car beam to be replaced as no filing, drilling, or tapping can be carried out to the beam.

 
1.  
Install components in reverse order.
 
2.  
Read out and clear error memory.
 
3.  
Check functionality of all switches and speakers.
