Remove control unit - Displays
 
Care Point:
Wiring harness clips tight.

 
1.   
Detach lower wiring harness clips from bracket (1).
 
2.   
Remove nuts (2).(M4) 5 Nm
 
3.   
Detach upper wiring harness clips from bracket (3).
 
4.   
Remove bracket (4).
 

 
Care Point:
Remove the left bracket only.

 
5.   
Remove bolts (5).(M6x12) 8 Nm
 
6.   
Remove bolts (6).(M5x12) 2 Nm
 
7.   
Remove bolts (7).(M5x16) 3 Nm
 
 
Care Point:
Bracket will be removed with front parking speaker attached.

 
8.   
Disconnect electrical connector from front parking speaker.
 
 
Care Point:
Harness is clipped to bracket both inside and outside.

 
9.   
Detach wiring harness from bracket.
 
10.  
Remove bracket (8).

Remove bolts (9).(M5x12) 2 Nm

Disconnect electrical connectors from control unit.
 
13.  
Remove the control unit (10).
 


Install control unit - Displays
 
Care Point:
Check and replace any damaged harness clips.

 
1.   
Install components in reverse order.
 
 
Care Point:
Carry out steps 2 to 15 if a new control unit is fitted.

Care Point:
Make sure VCI and MDS batteries are in good condition or connected to external power supply.

Connect McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS).
 
3.   
Proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox within Advanced Driver Interface (ADI).
 
 
Care Point:
If update is not available, proceed to step 10.

Care Point:
Do not attempt to start reprogramming until the Ethernet cable is installed correctly.
The OBD2 cable must remain connected to the vehicle and MDS tablet during the entire reprogramming process.

Access Reprogramming.

Using tool kit Tool - MDS Download Adaptor, plug the Ethernet cable into the MDS tablet.
 
6.   
Install the supplied Ethernet to USB male adaptor to the Ethernet cable.
 

7.   
Plug USB adaptor into port one (P1) of the USB interface panel, located in the tunnel console.
 
 
Care Point:
ADI screen will display "Update Preparing".

 
8.   
Allow update to download to the ADI system.
 
 
Care Point:
ADI screen will display progress bars during install, followed by "Update Successful" once complete.

Allow update to install to the ADI system

Access Sequences.

Carry out Align Car Configuration sequence.
 
12.  
Carry out Programme VIN sequence.
 
13.  
Carry out Set Configuration Defaults sequence.
 
14.  
Carry out Radio Configuration sequence.
 
 
Care Point:
Where required, check and re-calibrate vehicle camera system.

Read out and clear error memory.

   Note
