Electrical / Infotainment / Infotainment Service Procedures / DA-RM-07M021-00-002 - Calibrate rear view camera system
Image Checking
1.
If a rear bumper is removed and re-fitted, the rear view camera image must be checked:
Align vehicle with an available parallel line on the floor, ideally floor tiles or tape.
Start vehicle.
With the foot brake engaged, select Reverse gear.
2.
If the image is out of alignment, continue with the preparation steps.
Preparation
Care Point:
Make sure there are no DTCs or issues relating to the vehicle suspension, and that all tyres are at the correct pressures before starting.
1.
Make sure an area of at least 2 metres (M1) x 3.5 metres (M2) (6.5 feet x 12 feet) is used behind the vehicle.
The area must be clear of obstructions with no prominent floor markings.
2.
Remove the vehicle from lift mode.
3.
Remove any exterior covers.
4.
Hang 3 plumb bobs from the vehicle, in line with the rear view camera (a) and two inner PDC sensors (b).
5.
Align rear camera calibration mat ©) to the plumb bobs, using the three white markers.
6.
Refer to the graphic for the completed preparation.
Calibration
1.
Enter the vehicle and close both doors.
2.
Connect McLaren Diagnostic System and proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox within
Advanced Driver Interface (ADI)
.
3.
Access sequences.
Care Point:
Sequences will start the calibration.
4.
Carry out Calibrate Camera Sequence.
Care Point:
Calibration is automatic and will return either a pass or fail result
5.
Allow sufficient time for self calibration to take place.
Fail Result
Care Point:
If a fail result is achieved, the cause is either lack of ambient lighting in the work area, or the calibration mat is out of position
1.
Check position of calibration mat.
2.
Make sure there is a suitable amount of ambient lighting in the work area.
3.
Re-start calibration sequence above.
4.
Refer to Pass Result section below once a pass result is achieved.
Pass Result
Care Point:
If a pass result is achieved, the calibration is complete. The final image will need to be checked to make sure the guide lines of the display are correctly located.
1.
Check horizontal alignment of rear view camera image. Red lines on display should overlap blue marker lines of the calibration mat.
Start vehicle.
With the foot brake engaged, select Reverse gear.
2.
If the image is correct, the calibration is complete.
If the image is not correct, increase the amount of ambient lighting in the work area and re-start calibration sequence.
