Remove electronic control unit - SCUG
| 1. | Disconnect electrical connectors (1).
| | | 2. | Remove nut (2) and retaining strap (3). (M5) 3 Nm
| | | 3. | Remove SCUG control unit (4).

Install electronic control unit - SCUG
| 1. | Install components in reverse order.
| | | | | Care Point: | Carry out steps 2 to 9 if a new control unit is fitted.

| Care Point: | Carry out steps 2 to 4 and 10 to 11 if control unit has been removed or had a software update.
|
| Care Point: | Make sure VCI and MDS batteries are in good condition or connected to external power supply.
|
| | | 2. | Connect McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS).
| | | 3. | Proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox.
| | | 4. | Select Switch Control Unit Gateway (SCUG).
| | | 5. | Access Reprogramming.
| | | | | Care Point: | If update is not available, proceed to step 7.

| | | 6. | Check if a software update is available, update as required.
| | | 7. | Access Coding.
| | | 8. | Carry out Write Coding String.
| | | 9. | Carry out Write VIN.
| | | 10. | Access Sequences.
| | | | | Care Point: | Make sure any battery chargers are disconnected when performing Steering Column Calibration, either by the MDS sequence or when prompted by the Instrument Cluster.

| | | 11. | Carry out Steering Column Calibration sequence.
| | | 12. | Read out and clear error memory.
