Preparation work

Care Point: Disconnect 12V battery during Remove/Install seat procedure.

Care Point: Remove both sides.

Care Point: When removing the facia, also remove the right hand display control unit bracket.

Care Point: Disconnect body controller only.

Remove facia
 
Care Point:
Risk of component damage - Facia access hatch panel clips are tight. Damage to access hatch may occur.

Care Point:
Both sides of the vehicle.

 
1.   
Remove intermediate shaft bolt (1). 22 Nm
 

 
Care Point:
Electric steering column NVH bracket shown.

 
2.   
Remove bolts (2) from NVH bracket. (M6x25) 8 Nm
 

3.   
Detach OBD connector (3).
 

4.   
Remove bolts (4) facia to HVAC distribution.(M6x16) 2 Nm
 

5.   
Disconnect facia harness electrical connectors (5).
 

6.   
Disconnect facia harness tunnel (6).
 

 
Care Point:
Located in the A-Pillar.

 
7.   
Disconnect facia harness to antenna (7) and remove screw (8).
 

8.   
Disconnect facia harness from roof harness (9).
 

 
Care Point:
Support facia.

Care Point:
Two technicians will be needed.

 
9.   
Remove cross car beam bolts (10).(M8x45) 20 Nm
 

10.  
Remove cross car beam bolts (10).(M8x45) 20 Nm
 
11.  
Remove facia from vehicle.
 
 
Care Point:
If replacing facia.

Remove the following components where fitted:
 


Install facia
 
Care Point:
Two technicians will be needed.

Care Point:
Lubricate rubber guides before installing facia.

Care Point:
Make sure intermediate shaft is located to steering column whilst installing facia.

Care Point:
Make sure no trapped wires behind facia.

Care Point:
Make sure no damage between facia and HVAC seals.

Care Point:
Make sure no damage between facia and GPS-Antenna.

Care Point:
Fit washer to lower facia bolts.

Care Point:
Make sure that all bolts fitted are not cross threaded before tightening. Any damage caused to the threads will require the cross car beam to be replaced as no filing, drilling or tapping can be carried out on the beam.

Care Point:
Make sure any battery chargers are disconnected when performing Steering Column Calibration, either by the MDS sequence or when prompted by the Instrument Cluster.

Install components in reverse order.
 
2.  
Read out and clear error memory.
 
3.  
Check functionality of all switches and hardware.
