Preparation work

Care Point: Remove both sides.

Care Point: Follow procedure to remove covers and disconnect electrical connectors only.

Remove glass - Windscreen
 
Care Point:
Disconnect windscreen antenna located behind where the A-pillar trim and headliner overlap. The location of the connector is on the right for left hand drive vehicles, or left for right hand drive vehicles.
A further connector is located at the top of the windscreen, disconnect this also.

Disconnect antenna connectors.
 
 
Care Point:
Risk of paint damage.

Care Point:
Risk of component damage.

Protect areas around windscreen (interior and exterior).
 
3.  
Remove windscreen finisher upper seal.
 
 
Care Point:
Risk of component damage: The use of standard cutting wire or tooling could damage the vehicle body.
Due to the materials used on the vehicle McLaren recommend that a suitable fibre cutting cord is used to remove all bonded glass.

Carefully cut out windscreen from vehicle.

Remove windscreen.

Install glass - Windscreen
 
Care Point:
Clean excess sealant from vehicle before preparing for installation.

Care Point:
Install wiper cover before fitting windscreen to Make sure lower windscreen seal sits correctly.

Install driver mirror to windscreen.DA-RM-08N001-05-001 - Remove/Install mirror - Driver

Apply suction cups to outer edges on the exterior of the windscreen.
 

 
Care Point:
Agitate the adhesive pack for 2 minutes before applying.

Care Point:
Apply adhesive along dotted line in windscreen black off.

Care Point:
When applying the adhesive, always start from one position and apply in a constant bead.
Do not apply adhesive in sections or go back over a section.

Care Point:
Do not apply adhesive to vehicle or wiper cover.

Apply adhesive around the windscreen (1) on the recommended bond path (A).Sika Tack OEM
 
 
Care Point:
Use two technicians to fit windscreen.

 
7.   
Offer up windscreen to vehicle.
 
8.   
Install windscreen.
 
 
Care Point:
Make sure windscreen is fitted evenly and that there is sufficient contact between the windscreen finisher upper seal and the body.

Care Point:
Make sure windscreen height is correctly set. Make sure the windscreen does not move down towards the wiper spindle / luggage compartment.

Care Point:
Make sure all excess adhesive is removed. Make sure lower windscreen seal is free of excess adhesive.

 
9.   
Press the glass into place.
 
10.  
Allow adhesive a suitable time period to cure.
 
11.  
Install components in reverse order.
