Preparation work

Care Point: Passenger side only.

Remove control unit - Seat
 
Care Point:
The procedure below outlines removal of the seat control unit on a full electric seat.
Hybrid Seats (Driver side with electric height adjust) and Manual Seats (Passenger side) do not have a control unit.

Care Point:
Risk of component damage: Do not place seat assembly on a hard surface.

 
1.  
Disconnect electrical connectors (1).
 

 
Care Point:
Harness removed from graphic for clarity.

 
2.  
Remove screws (2). (M5x14) 2.5 Nm
 
3.  
Remove control unit (3).

Care Point:
If seat control unit is being replaced or updated, make sure switch pack is installed first.
Do not attempt to fit an opposite vehicle side (Driver / Passenger) or different drive side (LHD / RHD) switch pack for testing purposes, this will cause a communication failure of the seat control unit/s.

Install components in reverse order.
 
 
Care Point:
Carry out steps 2 to 8 if a new control unit has been fitted.

Care Point:
Make sure VCI and MDS batteries are in good condition or connected to external power supply

Connect McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS).
 
3.   
Proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox.
 
4.   
Select Seat Control Module Left / Right (SCML / SCMR).
 
5.   
Access Reprogramming.
 
 
Care Point:
If update is not available, proceed to step 7.

 
6.   
Check if a software update is available, update as required.
 
7.   
Access Sequences.
 
8.   
Carry out Seat Calibration sequence.
 
9.   
Check functionality.
 
10.  
Read out and clear error memory.
