Preparation work
1.
DA-RM-01A001-00-001 - Secure/Lift vehicle on platform
2.
DA-RM-04B004-01-001 - Remove/Install wheel - Front
3.
Care Point:
Detach only.
DA-RM-04C001-02-001 - Remove/Install brake caliper - Front
4.
DA-RM-04C001-01-001 - Remove/Install brake disc - Front
Remove upright - Front
Care Point:
Detach flyleads from any clips.
1.
Disconnect wheel speed sensor electrical connector (1).
2.
Disconnect hub accelerometer electrical connector (2).
3.
Remove bolts (3).
(M5x8) 5 Nm
4.
Remove ball joint heatshield (4).
Care Point:
Use a ball joint separator / splitter to release ball joints.
Care Point:
Counter hold ball joints when releasing nuts where required.
5.
Remove nut (5).
(M10) 58 Nm
6.
Release track rod ball joint (6).
7.
Remove nut (7).
8.
Release lower ball joint (8).
9.
Remove nut (9).
10.
Release upper ball joint (10).
11.
Remove upright from vehicle.
Care Point:
If replacing upright.
12.
Remove the following components:
DA-RM-04B001-02-003 - Remove/Install sensor - Wheel speed - Front
DA-RM-04B001-02-004 - Remove/Install sensor - Accelerometer - Front suspension
Ball joint heatshields
(M5x8) 5 Nm
Install upright - Front
Care Point:
If refitting or renewing camber top hat in upright, Make sure
Loctite 222
is used on the position fixing and a torque of 1.2 Nm is applied.
Care Point:
Use a plain M14 half nut and wind onto the upper and lower ball joint threads (3, 5). Torque these nuts to
(M14) 50 Nm
.
Once torque has been achieved, remove slave M14 nuts and fit specified nuts. Torque specified nuts to
(M14) 90 Nm
.
Care Point:
Make sure track rod and ball joint heatshields are present and in correct position.
Clean and apply
Loctite 2701
to ball joint heatshield bolts.
1.
Install components in reverse order.
Care Point:
Lower vehicle to the ground.
2.
Apply pressure to top of wheel towards vehicle.
If excessive inwards movement of wheel is present, the upper ball joint has failed.
This will need to be replaced.
Care Point:
The procedure below must be claimed separately if you make a warranty claim.
3.
Make sure that the suspension geometry is in tolerance.
