Remove control unit - Engine (ECM)
 
Care Point:
Only carry out steps 1-6 if fitting a new control unit.

 
1.   
Connect McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS).
 
2.   
Proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox.
 
3.   
Select Engine Control Module (ECM).
 
4.   
Access Sequences.
 
5.   
Carry out Unpair Immobiliser sequence.
 
6.   
End diagnostic session.
 
7.   
Disconnect electrical connector from ISG throttle body.DA-RM-05F002-04-002 - Remove/Install throttle body - ISG
 

8.   
Remove bolts (1).(M6x20) 5 Nm
 
9.   
Disconnect electrical connectors (2).
 
10.  
Remove control unit from vehicle.
 


Install control unit - Engine (ECM)
1.   
Install control unit.
 
 
Care Point:
Carry out steps 2 to 14 if a new control unit is fitted.

Care Point:
Make sure VCI and MDS batteries are in good condition or connected to external power supply.

Connect McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS).
 
3.   
Proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox.
 
4.   
Select Engine Control Module (ECM).
 
5.   
Access Reprogramming.
 
 
Care Point:
If update is not available, proceed to step 7.

 
6.   
Check if a software update is available, update as required.

Access Sequences.
 
8.   
Carry out Programme VIN sequence.
 
9.   
Carry out Start Throttle Adaption sequence.
 
10.  
Carry out Save Throttle Adaption sequence.
 
11.  
Carry out Clear Misfire Adaption sequence.
 
12.  
Carry out DMTL Diagnostic Module Leakage Test sequence.
 
13.  
Access Actual Values.
 
 
Care Point:
Value should read between 1 and 4.

 
14.  
Check Camshaft actual value.
 
15.  
Install remaining components in reverse order.
 
16.  
Read out and clear error memory.
 

   
   
   Note
