Care Point: Disconnect only.

Remove upright - Rear
1.  
Remove drive shaft nut (1). (M26) 260 Nm
 
2.  
Remove nut (2) and disconnect tie rod (3). (M14) 90 Nm
 

3.  
Remove nut (4) and separate the upright from the lower wishbone. (M14) 90 Nm
 
 
Care Point:
Observe the concentric stepped washer.

 
4.  
Remove nut (5) and separate the upright from the upper wishbone. (M14) 90 Nm
 
5.  
Remove the upright from vehicle.
 
 
Care Point:
If replacing upright.

 
6.  
Remove the following components:
Ball joint heatshields. (M5x8) 5 Nm
EPB bracket. (M12x35) 120 Nm
 


Install upright - Rear
 
Care Point:
Using a plain M14 half nut.

 
1.  
Install upper wishbone ball joint.
 
 
Care Point:
Make sure correct orientation of concentric stepped washer.

 
2.  
Torque half nut. (M14) 50 Nm
 
3.  
Remove half nut.
 
4.  
Install nut (2). (M14) 90 Nm
 
5.  
Install remaining components in reverse order.
 
 
Care Point:
Renew the drive shaft nut if removed.

 
6.  
Install drive shaft nut, tighten to (M26) 260 Nm and stave over.
 
 
Care Point:
Make sure tie rod and ball joint heatshields are present and in correct position.

Care Point:
Clean and apply Loctite 2701 to ball joint heatshield bolts.

Care Point:
The procedure below must be claimed separately if you make a warranty claim.

 
7.  
Make sure that the suspension geometry is in tolerance.
 
 
Care Point:
Once vehicle is on ground.

 
8.  
Apply pressure to the top of the wheel, towards vehicle. If excessive inward movement of wheel is detected, the upper wishbone ball joint has failed. The upper wishbone will require replacing.
