Chassis / Suspension Front / Damper and Actuator Assemblies Front / DA-RM-04B001-01-001 - Remove/Install actuator - Front
Preparation work
1.
2.
3.
Care Point: Depressurise the suspension system before you do this step.
4.
5.
Care Point: Detach only.

WARNING!

Risk of injury and poisoning working with hydraulic fluid!
Risk of injury to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. When disengaging hydraulic lines without depressurising the system, dangerous skin or eye injuries can occur due to the very high pressures (in excess of 200 bar). If hydraulic fluid, particularly central hydraulic fluid (especially harmful), comes into contact with unprotected skin, this can cause damage to the skin.
If hydraulic fluid is swallowed, this can lead to poisoning symptoms such as headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, cramps and unconsciousness.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.
Depressurise and drain the system if necessary when commencing work on hydraulic systems.
Never put hydraulic fluid into beverage containers.
Ensure sufficient ventilation, especially in the case of central hydraulic fluid.
Ensure that only authorised persons have access to hydraulic fluid.
Immediately seal disconnected leads and hoses and the connections to the assembly with blind plugs.

WARNING!

Risk of injury and poisoning working with hydraulic fluid under pressure!
Risk of injury to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. If any part of the hydraulic circuit has failed, a possibility of the system not depressurising can occur. Extra precaution is required in this event. If hydraulic fluid is swallowed, this can lead to poisoning symptoms such as headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, cramps and unconsciousness.
Always wear skin protection cream, protective gloves and safety glasses when working on a potentially pressurised system.

WARNING!

Possible fluid spills from vehicle systems during repairs or maintenance.
Risk of thermal incidents, slip hazards, corrosion of electrical components, failure of electrical or mechanical components or unwanted odours.
Always limit fluid spills and fully clean the spilled fluid after repairs or maintenance.

Remove actuator - Front

Care Point:
This procedure applies to membrane and metal bellow accumulator type actuators.

Care Point:
The suspension system must be depressurized before you do work on the hydraulic system.

1.
Connect the McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS).

2.
Go to sequences in the Chassis Control Unit (CCU).

3.
Do the APMU maintenance start sequence.

4.
Disconnect the electrical connector (1).

5.
Disconnect the electrical connector (2).

6.
Disengage the harness clips (3).

7.
Disconnect the electrical connector (4).

Care Point:
If nose lift is installed.

Care Point:
Replace the banjo bolt washers. Refer to the Spare Parts Catalogue (SPC) for part numbers.

8.
Remove the banjo bolt (5) (M10) 25 Nm.

Care Point:
Install plugs when you disconnect the hydraulic pipes.

9.
Remove the bolts (6) (M5x30) 3.5 Nm and disconnect the hydraulic pipes (7).

Care Point:
Before you disconnect the electrical connectors, record their location.

10.
Disconnect the electrical connectors (8).

11.
Remove the bolts (9) (M10x30) 57 Nm.

12.
Remove the bolt (10) (M10x70) 57 Nm.

13.
Remove the bolts (11) (M10x40) 57 Nm and remove the actuator.

Install actuator - Front

Care Point:
If you install a new actuator, make sure that you remove the hydraulic plugs.

Care Point:
Make sure that the routing of the electrical harnesses is correct.

1.
Install the components in reverse order.

Care Point:
The procedure below must be claimed separately if you make a warranty claim.

2.
Do the suspension bleed procedure. Refer to DA-RM-04B003-00-001 - Fill/Bleed fluid - Suspension system.

Care Point:
The procedure below must be claimed separately if you make a warranty claim.

3.
If nose lift is installed, do the steering bleed procedure. Refer to DA-RM-04D001-00-001 - Fill/Bleed fluid - Steering.

4.
Connect the McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS).

5.
Go to sequences in the Chassis Control Unit (CCU).

6.
Do the Kinetic Damping System Pressure Sensor Check procedure.

7.
Examine the suspension system for leaks.

8.
