Chassis / Suspension Front / Suspension Service Procedures / DA-RM-04B001-00-001 - Calibrate suspension displacement
Preparation work

Care Point: Remove both sides.

Check sensor - Suspension displacement
 
Care Point:
Make sure that the displacement sensors (1) have been fitted correctly and are secured.
Also Make sure that the brackets (2) are not damaged before continuing.

Check sensor – Suspension Displacement (1).

Raise vehicle to a sensible height so that the wheels are on full droop.
 
4.   
Apply a piece of tape to the bottom of the wheel arch edge on the fender / bodyside assembly of all four wheels (4).
 
 
Care Point:
Make sure no DTC´s are logged in the CCU relating to suspension. If this is not the case, the faults must be rectified before continuing.
 
5.   
Connect McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS), proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox within Chassis Control Unit (CCU).
 
6.   
Select Sequences.
 
7.   
Select Adaptive Damping Calibration.
 
8.   
Make sure all Preconditions are met before continuing.
 
 
Care Point:
Accuracy of the manual measurements of within 1.0mm is required.
 
9.   
Measure the distance from the bottom edge of the wheel arch edge (5) to the top edge of the wheel rim (6), at the corner instructed by MDS whilst wheels are at full droop. Tool - Ride Height Measurement
 
10.  
Enter value into MDS, then repeat as instructed for remaining 3 corners.
 
11.  
Lower vehicle to the floor.
 
 
Care Point:
Do not start vehicle.
 
12.  
Gently bounce vehicle.
 
 
Care Point:
Rotate steering wheel no more than a quarter turn from straight ahead.
 
13.  
Rotate steering wheel clockwise and anti-clockwise to settle steering, ensuring wheels are pointing straight ahead when complete.
 
14.  
Allow vehicle to settle for 2 minutes.
 
15.  
Repeat operation for vehicle on ground, following the instructions given on MDS.
 
16.  
MDS will then show if the operation has been successful.
 
 
Care Point:
Complete steps 18 and 19 only if the operation has failed.
 
17.  
To get the sensor back into specification the bolts for the sensor in question must be loosened so that the bracket can be adjusted. Refer to the relevant procedure. DA-RM-04B001-03-003 - Remove/Install sensor - Suspension displacement - FrontDA-RM-04B002-03-003 - Remove/Install sensor - Suspension displacement - Rear
 
18.  
Repeat step 3 to step 16 until a pass condition is reached
 
19.  
Install components in reverse order.
