Preparation work

Remove electronic control unit - Body control / Security body control
 
Care Point:
Only carry out steps 1-6 if fitting a new control unit.

 
1.  
Connect McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS).
 
2.  
Proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox.
 
3.  
Select Security Body Controller (SBC).
 
4.  
Access Sequences.
 
5.  
Carry out Unpair Immobiliser sequence.
 
6.  
End diagnostic session.
 

7.  
Disconnect electrical connectors (1).
 
8.  
Remove self tapping screws (2).
 
9.  
Remove electronic control unit - body control/security body control (3).
 


Install electronic control unit - Body control / Security body control
 
Care Point:
Electrical connectors are colour coded.

Care Point:
Replace any broken clips.

 
1.   
Install components in reverse order.
 
 
Care Point:
Carry out steps 2 to 14 if a new control unit is fitted.

Care Point:
Make sure VCI and MDS batteries are in good condition or connected to external power supply.

Connect McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS).
 
3.   
Proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox.
 
4.   
Select either Body Controller (BC) or Security Body Controller (SBC).
 
 
Care Point:
If update is not available, proceed to step 8.

 
5.   
Access Reprogramming.
 
 
Care Point:
If Security Body Controller (SBC) is updated, complete an ignition cycle once update is complete.

 
6.   
Check if a software update is available for BC or SBC, update as required.
 
7.   
If required, repeat process for other control unit.
 
 
Care Point:
Within SBC Diagnostic Toolbox.

Access Sequences.
 
9.   
Carry out Set ECU Configuration sequence.
 
10.  
Carry out Programme VIN sequence.
 
11.  
Carry out Align Vehicle Configuration sequence.
 
 
Care Point:
All vehicle keys must be present within vehicle if a new control unit is fitted.

Carry out Key Programming sequence.
 
 
Care Point:
Within BC Diagnostic Toolbox.

 
13.  
Access Sequences.
 
14.  
Carry out Programme VIN sequence.
 
15.  
Carry out Align Vehicle Configuration sequence.
 
16.  
Read out and clear error memory.
