Remove control unit - Transmission
 
Care Point:
Only carry out steps 1-6 if fitting a new control unit.

 
1.  
Connect McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS).
 
2.  
Proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox.
 
3.  
Select Transmission Control Unit (TCU).
 
4.  
Access Sequences.
 
5.  
Carry out Unpair Immobiliser sequence.
 
6.  
End diagnostic session.
 

7.  
Remove bolts (1). (M6x20) 5 Nm
 
8.  
Disconnect electrical connectors (2) and remove module.
 


Install control unit - Transmission
1.   
Install components in reverse order.
 
 
Care Point:
Carry out steps 2 to 15 if a new control unit is fitted.

Care Point:
Make sure VCI and MDS batteries are in good condition or connected to external power supply.

Connect McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS).
 
3.   
Proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox.
 
4.   
Select Transmission Control Unit (TCU).
 
5.   
Access Reprogramming.
 
 
Care Point:
If update is not available, proceed to step 7.

 
6.   
Check if a software update is available, update as required.

Access Sequences.
 
8.   
Carry out Set ECU Configuration sequence.
 
9.   
Carry out Clear Gear Adaptions sequence.
 
10.  
Carry out Align Car Configuration sequence.
 
11.  
Carry out Programme VIN sequence.
 
12.  
Carry out Dual Clutch Calibration sequence.
 
 
Care Point:
Airbrake Bleed sequence will also carry out an Airbrake Calibration sequence.

Care Point:
Safety Critical! Make sure no technicians are working at rear of vehicle whilst bleed sequence is in operation.

 
13.  
Carry out Airbrake Bleed sequence.
 
14.  
Read out and clear error memory.
