🔧 Documentation Errors & Corrections

Found a wrong torque spec, a broken diagram, or a procedure that doesn't match what's actually on the car? Please include the document ID (visible in the URL or page header in the SIS) and describe the discrepancy. I take these seriously — bad data on a car like this causes real damage.

Community Technical Support

For active diagnosis help, repair questions, and MDS tool support — the right place is the community forum at mcltech.net. There are owners and technicians there who have genuinely seen everything that can go wrong with a 720S. Much faster than waiting on an email from me, and a better answer too.

Response times: This is a one-person operation running alongside a full-time job. I aim to reply within 3–5 business days. For documentation errors and legal notices, I prioritize faster. If it's been two weeks and you haven't heard back, try again — sometimes things fall through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before reaching out, these questions come up often enough that the answer is probably already here.

Can I download the full service manual as a PDF?

No — the SIS is a web application, not a single document. The original McLaren format is HTML-based with thousands of individual procedure files. There's no single PDF to download. Individual TSBs are available as PDFs from the TSB index page.

I found a torque spec that doesn't match what's on my car. What do I do?

Email me with the document ID (shown in the page URL or header within the SIS) and the discrepancy. Include your build date if you have it — some specs changed between early and late production 720S. I'll verify against source data and correct it. Getting the torque values right matters more to me than anything else on this site.

Where do I get MDS (McLaren Diagnostic System)?

This site covers service documentation only. MDS is the separate dealer diagnostic tool required for ECU programming, calibrations, and adaptations. The community resource for MDS is mcltech.net — that's where to go for the software and support.

Does this cover the 720S Spider as well?

The SIS content here is sourced from the 720S Coupe platform documentation. The Spider shares nearly all mechanical and electrical systems with the Coupe — the main differences are roof structure, convertible mechanism, and some body-specific wiring. For the vast majority of powertrain, chassis, and electrical procedures, the documentation applies to both variants.

Is this site affiliated with McLaren Automotive?

No. This is an independent community resource built and maintained by a 720S owner. McLaren Automotive Limited has no involvement in this site. All trademarks belong to their respective owners. See the Terms of Use for the full legal disclaimer.

How do I search within the service manual?

Open the Service Manual app and press Ctrl+K to open the search interface. It does real-time fuzzy matching across all 5,885 procedures by component name, part number, or procedure type. On mobile, the search icon appears in the top bar.
