Body Panels and Closures / Active Aero / Rear Active Aero Panels / DA-RM-02A053-03-001 - Remove/Install panel - Airbrake
Care Point:
This repair is applicable to standard and MSO defined carbon airbrake panel.

Remove panel - Airbrake
 
Care Point:
Do not move the airbrake panel manually. If you move it manually you must bleed the airbrake system. Refer to the section Bleed system - Airbrake below

 
1.  
With the engine on press the Active switch (1) then the Aero switch (2).
 

 
Care Point:
Make sure the vehicle is in sleep mode.

Care Point:
Fixings must be discarded once removed.

 
2.  
Remove the bolts (3).
Lift the airbrake panel to access to the electrical connector.
 
3.  
Disconnect the electrical connector (4) and remove the airbrake panel.
 
 
Care Point:
If replacing the airbrake panel do the step that follows.

Install panel - Airbrake
 
Care Point:
Always replace the airbrake panel fixings. Refer to the Spare Parts Catalogue (SPC) for part numbers.

 
1.  
Install the airbrake panel to the airbrake mechanism and loosely install the bolts.
 
2.  
Tighten the bolts in sequence (A) thru (F) (M6x18) 14 Nm.
 
3.  
Install the remaining components in reverse order.
 
 
Care Point:
The procedure below must be claimed separately if you make a warranty claim.

 
4.  
Make sure that the airbrake panel gap and flush values are in tolerance. Refer toDA-RM-02A052-00-001 - Gap and flush - Check and adjust - Closures.
 
 
Bleed system - Airbrake
Care Point:
The airbrake system will require bleeding if the airbrake panel was raised manually or if other work was completed.

 
5.  
Connect the McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS), proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox within Transmission Control Unit (TCU).
 
6.  
Access Sequences section.
 
 
Care Point:
The Air Brake Bleed sequence also completes the Calibration sequence. It is not required to carry out both sequences separately.

 
7.  
Carry out the Air Brake Bleed sequence.
 
8.  
Do a functional test of the airbrake panel and related components.
