WARNING!
 
Possible fluid spills from vehicle systems during repairs or maintenance.
Risk of thermal incidents, slip hazards, corrosion of electrical components, failure of electrical or mechanical components or unwanted odours.
Always limit fluid spills and fully clean the spilled fluid after repairs or maintenance.
 

Drain - Engine oil
1.  
Remove oil filler cap (1).
 
2.  
Remove oil filter cap (2) and discard filter (3). 25 Nm
 

 
Care Point:
Use a suitable container to catch drained fluid.

Care Point:
Drain oil whilst at a warm temperature

 
3.  
Remove sump plugs (4). (T50) 24 Nm
 
4.  
Remove oil tank drain plug (5). (M14) 18 Nm
 
5.  
Allow engine to drain oil for a minimum of 15 minutes.
 


Fill fluid - Engine oil
1.   
Replace sump plugs and washer (4).
 
2.   
Install sump plugs (4).
 
3.   
Replace washer on oil tank drain plug (5).
 
4.   
Install oil tank drain plug (5).
 

 
Care Point:
Using O-rings supplied with replacement oil filter.

Replace O-rings (7) on oil filter cap.
 
6.   
Install oil filter cap (2) with replacement oil filter (3).
 
 
Care Point:
Do not choke the filler tube with engine oil under any circumstances.
Do not put more than 8.0 litres of oil into the system. If this quantity has been achieved with no movement to the oil level gauge, please give the vehicle a complete check of the oil system including use of the McLaren Diagnostic System. Under no circumstances should the above mentioned quantity be exceeded.

Care Point:
Fill engine oil with MOBIL ESP X3 0W-40.

Care Point:
Risk of component damage:
Do not attempt to fill more than 5 litres initially.

Initially fill engine oil with 5 litres.
 
 
Care Point:
Make sure oil filler cap is fitted correctly.

 
8.   
Install oil filler cap (1).
 
 
Care Point:
Risk of component damage:
Do not increase engine speed unless performing oil level check.
Engine speed must not increase 2000rpm until oil level check has been completed and passed.

 
9.   
Start engine.
Leave to idle for 30 seconds.
 
10.  
Stop engine.
 
 
Care Point:
Allow 2 minutes drain down time for the oil to collect in the oil tank.

 
11.  
Add 1 litre of engine oil.
 
 
Care Point:
Make sure oil filler cap is fitted correctly.

 
12.  
Install oil filler cap (1).
 
 
Care Point:
Risk of component damage:
Do not increase engine speed unless performing oil level check.
Engine speed must not increase 2000rpm until oil level check has been completed and passed.

 
13.  
Start engine.
Check engine oil level using Driver Display.DA-RM-05F003-00-002 - Check engine oil level.
 
14.  
Top up oil exactly as shown from Driver Display.
 
15.  
Install remaining components in reverse order.
