Preparation work

WARNING!
 
Risk of injury from moving parts!
When working on components which can be moved either by hand, by means of electric motors, or hydraulically/pneumatically via linkage, serious injuries can occur to body parts being trapped, crushed or severed.
Monitor hazard area.
Secure area against unauthorised access when parts are in motion.
Never touch the mechanism of a component while it is being actuated.
Choose a test cable of sufficient length.

Remove brake caliper - Parking
 
Care Point:
The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) is inoperative during this sequence.

Care Point:
The EPB calipers must be set in the fully open position before any mechanical work is carried out.

 
1.  
Connect McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS), proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox within Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
 
2.  
Access Sequences.
 
3.  
Perform EPB Enter Maintenance Mode.
 

 
Care Point:
Make sure electrical connector is clean prior to disconnection.

Care Point:
DO NOT use hand tools to disconnect electrical connector.

 
4.  
Disconnect electrical connector (1).
 
5.  
Remove bolts (2).(M10x85) 60 Nm
 
6.  
Remove brake caliper - Parking (3).
 


Install brake caliper - Parking
 
Care Point:
Make sure electrical connector is fitted correctly and locked.

 
1.  
Install components in reverse order.
 
 
Care Point:
The EPB calipers must be set in the fully closed position when any mechanical work is complete.

Care Point:
The EPB will be applied to Make sure it is safe to proceed with this sequence.

 
2.  
Connect McLaren Diagnostic System, proceed to Diagnostic Toolbox within Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
 
3.  
Access Sequences.
 
4.  
Perform EPB Exit Maintenance Mode.
 
5.  
Carry out EPB Assembly Check.
 
 
Care Point:
Carry over EPB Caliper Usage Reset sequence only if an EPB Caliper has been replaced.

 
6.  
Carry out EPB Caliper Usage Reset sequence.
