Preparation work
1.     

Adjust switch - Brake light
 
Care Point:
Make sure engine is running whilst performing this procedure.

 
1.   
Within the McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS) proceed to the Diagnostic Toolbox (1).
 
2.   
Select ESP (2) then Actual values (3).
 
3.   
Select Analog Data (4) then Master Cylinder Pressure (5).
 

4.   
Select Digital data (6) then brake switch (7). Press the detailed view button (8).
 

5.   
The detailed view screen will show both selected sets of data (9) and will automatically activate a play sequence.
 
6.   
Gently apply the brake pedal, by hand, until the brake switch status changes to applied.
 

 
Care Point:
If the Master Cylinder Pressure is already within this tolerance when the brake switch status changes to applied, end diagnostic session.

 
7.   
Make sure that the Master Cylinder reading is between 1-2 bar of pressure within MDS (10) when the brake switch status is applied.
 
8.   
If the figure is outside of this range continue on with the process outlined below.
 

 
Care Point:
With the brake pedal still pushed down to the point where the brake switch status has changed to applied, adjust the brake pedal switch (11) so the Master Cylinder reading is between 1-2 bar.

 
9.   
Adjust switch - Brake light.
 
 
Care Point:
Gently push the brake pedal down three times and record the pressures required to change the brake switch status 3 times and record the results in the chart.

 
10.  
Check switch - Brake light.
Test Number
Master Cylinder Pressure (BAR) to activate the brake lights

11.  
Once a consistent result has been achieved of between 1-2 bar, end diagnostic session.
 
12.  
Install components in reverse order.
